A United Airlines aircraft en route from the U.S. to Dubai was forced to make an emergency landing at Athens’ Eleftherios Venizelos Airport on Friday (April 11), after a passenger experienced a serious medical issue mid-flight.

The flight was diverted while flying south of Crete.

According to reports, a passenger began to feel unwell, prompting the crew to declare a medical emergency. The aircraft landed urgently in Athens, but unfortunately, the passenger passed away shortly after.
