Investigators from the Hellenic Police are working to shed light on the murky aspects of the violent beating of a 50-year-old man in Glyka Nera by a minor.
The alleged perpetrator is a 17-year-old who has been arrested. According to protothema.gr, the teenager is known to have a particularly aggressive temperament and had previously been monitored by a child psychologist.
Following his arrest, the minor told police that he attacked the 50-year-old because the man had allegedly threatened his sister the day before.
Evidence collected by authorities indicates that the assailant punched the victim, causing him to fall to the ground.
Earlier reports that the attacker used a scooter as a weapon have not been confirmed, as the medical examiner determined the man’s injuries resulted from the fall and from being struck with fists.

The violent incident, which resulted in the victim being admitted to the ICU of Evangelismos Hospital, took place on Monday night (May 19) outside a primary school in Glyka Nera.
It later emerged that the 50-year-old suffers from mental health issues, with reports indicating that he had previously been institutionalized for these problems.
A case file is being prepared against the 17-year-old suspect for attempted homicide.
