A gunman shot Colombian presidential candidate Miguel Uribe in the suburb of the capital, Bogota, yesterday, Saturday.

In images reported by Colombian media, the 39-year-old senator, who is a candidate in the presidential election to be held next May, can be seen bleeding in the arms of colleagues.

He was rushed to the hospital and his condition is described as critical, according to a report in La República newspaper. The Colombian newspaper reports that Uribe was shot six times. “They killed him, they killed him,” his colleagues cried, desperately calling for help.
