India‘s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will pay an official visit to Cyprus next Sunday and will hold contacts with Cypriot officials on Monday after meeting President Nicos Christodoulides.

This will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in 23 years.

As reported in Indian media, namely the widely circulated newspaper The Hindu, Modi’s visit is also aimed at sending a very specific message to Turkey, which in the recent India-Pakistan conflict had sided with Islamabad.
