An alarm has been sounded at “Eleftherios Venizelos” airport after an emergency alert was sent by an Airbus aircraft for smoke in the cockpit.
According to ERT, the crew of the aircraft contacted the control tower of Athens International Airport, requesting the possibility of an immediate emergency landing.
The aircraft is still in flight and remains in the process of approach. Airport authorities have been placed on standby, under security protocol.
No further information on the type of flight or number of passengers has yet been released.
