A 20-year-old man was arrested for firing a BB gun in Marousi, causing damage to homes and newspaper offices.
Specifically, an apartment owner reported on Wednesday (23/7) to the Maroussi Police Department damage from metal pellets on the balcony door and handed over an air gun bullet from the spot. During the preliminary investigation, police officers conducted an autopsy at the scene of the incident, where similar damage was found in a nearby medical office and a shop.
After factoring in the factors of the airgun’s dynamic force, elevation difference as well as the range of the shots, the suspected residence was identified as a possible location for the execution of the unnecessary shooting. During the search of the home in question, officers located the 20-year-old in possession of an air pistol, accompanied by 1,500 rounds of ammunition and 28 propellant gas cartridges.
A case was filed against the 20-year-old and his relative for violation of the weapons legislation and on Friday (25/7) they were taken to the competent prosecutor, where the young man was referred to the court.
On Monday (28/7), similar damage was reported to newspaper offices in a nearby location and relevant police officers went to the offices, recovered 3 metallic air gun bullets and linked the preliminary investigation material with the original case and submitted to the prosecutor’s office.
According to the police, the investigation of the case so far indicates that the unnecessary shooting was not related to personal confrontations, but was an irresponsible act.
