The final day of EuroBasket 2025 has arrived. Greece may have missed out on the grand final, but that doesn’t mean the National Team has no target — the team can return to the podium for the first time since 2009.
Vassilis Spanoulis’ squad will face this year’s big surprise, Finland, with the bronze medal game in Riga scheduled for 17:00. The game will be broadcast on NovaSports Start and ERT 1.
For his part, the Greek coach stated ahead of the game:
“We are in the medal zone after 16 years. We must not be miserable, but proud. We have a huge challenge ahead of us — the biggest game for me in the last 16 years. To bring the medal back to our country, to make history.”
Panagiotis Kalaitzakis said:
“We have a very big opportunity, a very big motivation. We’re playing for a medal that our country hasn’t seen in 16 years. At the start of the tournament, if someone had told us we’d be playing Finland in the last game for a medal, almost all of us would have ‘taken it.’ This might be the most important game of the tournament. They’re a good team, they didn’t get here by chance. They run the floor, they take more three-pointers than any other team. They don’t have the big bodies to stop Giannis, but they’re a dangerous team with many players who can all shoot and handle the ball. We’ll need to be very careful.”
Finland’s coach, Lassi Tuovi, noted:
“Of course the dream is the grand final, but EuroBasket is so tough. We’re talking about legends, like Sloukas who has been with the national team for years and now they have a chance at a medal. It will be a special game for us too, having our 5,000 fans together with the Greeks — the atmosphere will be amazing. A special game for them, and historically, for us as well.”
Today’s schedule (14/9):
