The president of the European Central Bank Christine Lagarde said she would not want to become president of the French Republic after her term in Frankfurt ends in October 2027.
“It’s a terrible job that you kind of have to be prepared for and I don’t think it’s really my case,” Lagarde said, asked on a podcast by the Collège Leaders in Finance.
Continuing, Lagarde, who has been reportedly featured as a candidate for president of France, said that “it doesn’t mean I don’t want to serve my country but I think the presidency is a gruelling job that you have to be a bit crazy to want to do.”
