Panathinaikos 91-85 Villeurbanne: Nan and Holmes seal a professional victory

The game ended with Panathinaikos securing a 91-85 victory over Villeurbanne. In the final moments, Holmes committed a foul with just 3.6 seconds left, but earlier free throws by Nan (2/2) and De Colo (2 points) kept Villeurbanne within reach. De Colo also scored a crucial basket to bring the score to 87-83, but Panathinaikos held on to close out the win.

In a tense final stretch, Panathinaikos held onto a narrow lead over Villeurbanne, 87-83. Holmes scored a basket and drew a foul, while De Colo kept the French team in contention with consecutive three-pointers. Watson earned free throws, and Nan hit a crucial basket to stabilize the lead with just under two and a half minutes remaining, keeping the game intensely competitive.

Panathinaikos kept their composure in the fourth quarter to stay ahead of Villeurbanne, eventually leading 81–75. Holmes dominated inside with powerful dunks and key baskets, reaching 21 points, while Osman added crucial free throws to maintain the margin. Despite Villeurbanne’s push with three-pointers from Watson and Lighty, the Greens controlled the tempo, with Sloukas and Mitoglou contributing important points to secure the advantage as the clock wound down.

Panathinaikos – Villeurbanne 68–60 (End of 3rd Quarter): The Greens Build Their Lead

Panathinaikos continued to control the tempo through the third quarter, steadily widening their lead against Villeurbanne. The Greens displayed strong teamwork and defensive consistency, with Dinos Mitoglou and Kendrick Nunn leading the charge. Mitoglou added key baskets in the paint, while Nunn reached 20 points, showing his scoring prowess both from the perimeter and in transition.

Villeurbanne tried to respond with a few crucial three-pointers from De Colo and Vautier, but the French side struggled to contain Panathinaikos’ offensive rhythm. Omer Yurtseven and Grant added powerful dunks and threes, energizing the crowd and keeping the momentum firmly in Panathinaikos’ favor.

As the third period closed at 68–60, the Greek champions looked composed and in control. Their balanced attack and disciplined defense allowed them to “build” a solid advantage heading into the final quarter, with the OAKA fans pushing them toward another EuroLeague victory.
