Main river embankment breaks in Kornofolia – Waters threaten settlements

It is noted that on Sunday (22/2) a break occurred in the main embankment of the Evros River between Kornofolia and Dadia, according to evros-news.gr.

At the same time, according to e-evros.gr, the volumes of water coming from Bulgaria and Turkey are very large, and as a result, the tributaries Ardas, Tundzha, and Erythropotamos are carrying water into the Evros River, which overflows its embankments and floods surrounding areas. In many places, the waters have reached settlements, such as Pythio, or have flooded roads and the railway line.
