A joint declaration to strengthen the European Union’s single market was signed by the “27” on the sidelines of the informal European Council summit taking place in Cyprus, within the framework of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The declaration, titled “One Europe, One Market,” is signed by leaders of EU member states who took part in the meeting, with the aim of accelerating the deepening of the single market. The initiative is part of the priorities of the Cypriot Presidency, with an emphasis on boosting the EU’s competitiveness.

The declaration was signed by the leaders of the member states participating in the initiative. Institutional representatives of the European Union also took part in the process, within the framework of the summit, including the heads of the main European institutions.

The declaration outlines a roadmap for further integration of the European market and includes:

  • The removal of existing barriers to the free movement of services and capital between member states.
  • Strengthening the digital single market, with common standards and rules.
  • Promoting energy integration, aiming for greater interconnection and security of supply.
  • Simplifying procedures for businesses operating in more than one member state.
  • Enhancing the competitiveness of the European economy at the international level.

The declaration is not a legally binding act, but a political commitment by leaders to advance specific reforms at the European level. However, it serves as a basis for future legislative initiatives by the European Commission and for discussions within the Council of the European Union.
