A cold front is expected to bring squalls, thunderstorms, and a drop in temperatures, according to the latest forecast data presented by protothema.gr meteorologist Giorgos Tsatrafyllias.
According to Tsatrafyllias, “an organized atmospheric disturbance with the characteristics of a cold front will affect the country on Friday (June 12), bringing squalls, severe thunderstorms, intense lightning activity, and possible hailstorms, mainly during the midday and afternoon hours.”
At the same time, temperatures are expected to drop noticeably, first in northern Greece and then gradually farther south.
Where the severe weather is expected
The most intense weather phenomena are expected mainly over mainland areas, from Livadeia northward.
The regions considered at the highest risk are:

- Evia (Euboea)
- The Sporades Islands
In fact, in Evia and the Sporades, the severe weather is expected to persist until Saturday morning.
Attica is considered to be in the second tier of risk, as local geographical features of the Athens basin may temporarily intensify the weather conditions. Rain and periods of strong thunderstorms are expected on Friday, with the most critical time window being from 12:00 to 19:00.
The weather is expected to begin weakening from Saturday afternoon, while more summer-like conditions are forecast to return gradually from Monday onward.
