A report released by the European Central Bank (ECB) reveals that Greeks have lost 40% of their wealth. The data showed that Greeks’ median income fell from 23,500 euros before the crisis struck to 17,600 euros. According to the figures on the state of 84,000 household incomes in the Eurozone, the largest decline in wealth between 2009-2014 was recorded in Greece and Cyprus. The average wealth in Greek households went from 108,700 euros in 2009 to 65,100 in 2014. The ECB report also showed that the source of income for Greeks has changed substantially over the same period.
