Matthew Perry won’t fight Justin Trudeau in elementary school rematch…

The two were schoolmates

Newsroom April 3 02:26

Matthew Perry won’t risk taking on the entire Canadian Army just to settle a grudge match with Justin Trudeau.

The “Friends” star, who revealed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” last month that he had bullied the future Canadian Prime Minister in elementary school, backed out of a rematch.

“I’ve been giving it some thought, and you know what, who hasn’t wanted to punch Chandler? How about a rematch,” Trudeau proposed on Twitter on Saturday.

Perry, however, respectfully declined.

“I think I will pass at your request for a rematch kind sir (given that you currently have an army at your disposal),” he tweeted.

The 47-year-old actor and the future politician haven’t stayed in touch since fifth grade at Rockcliffe Park Public School in Ottawa, Canada, but Perry remembers their childhood battles well.

“I was reminded of this — my friend Chris Murray who was also in the fifth grade — we actually beat up Justin Trudeau,” he told Kimmel. “We both beat him up. I think he was excelling in a sport that we weren’t, so it was pure jealousy.”
