As was reported by BBC in a column featuring… gossip about the Scottish football league, “Celtic forward Georgios Samaras is being offered the chance to return to his homeland by Greek champions Olympiacos”.
As it was expected, the news were picked up by dozens of sports websites across Europe, raising questions about the Greek national team striker’s decision to quit Celtic for the Greek Super League.
According to a publication of Italian “Tuttomercato” site, the Greek forward’s contract with Celtic is about to expire. However, the journalist adds, Neil Lennon, coach of the current team of Samaras, “was hesitant when asked to talk about the renewal of Samaras’s contract with Celtic”.
Until now, there have been no official comments from the Greek club. It should be noted, however, that in his last press conference, Olympiacos coach Michel said that one of the four players with whom the team discusses is playing for a club abroad, fueling rumors that the Greek forward will join Olympiacos.
