A 4.4-magnitude earthquake was recorded in central Italy today, according to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC). The quake – initially reported as a magnitude 5 – had a focal depth of 10km and was centered 21km northwest of Perugia, EMSC reported.
According to the Italian authorities, so far there are no reports of injuries or damage from the earthquake recorded at 16:05, local time, in central Italy, near the city of Perugia. The earthquake measured 4.4 on the Richter scale, according to the Italian Institute of Geophysics.
The residents of Umbertide town took to the streets for precautionary reasons, but from the Civil Protection checks so far, no damage to buildings or injuries to residents have been ascertained. The earthquake was also felt in the Tuscany and Marche regions, in central Italy.
