Coffee in the hand or in the cafeteria? The 24% increase in VAT on the price of served coffee may provide the answer for lovers of the beloved beverage.

If a customer orders his favourite drink in the cafeteria and consumes it in the shop, he will pay 11% more as he will be charged 24% VAT, while if he orders his coffee in a “packet” and takes it in hand, he will pay less as 13% VAT will be applied.

Coffee and prices

In served items, prices are as follows:

– Greek: from 2,10€ -> 2,40€ ( +14,3% )
– Freddo espresso: from 3,80 -> 4,20€ ( + 10,5% )
– Freddo cappuccino: from 4€ -> 4,30€ ( + 7,5% )

– Greek: 1,50 – 2€
– Freddo espresso: 2 – 2,50€
– Freddo cappuccino: from 2,30 – 2,70€

Coffee at the table or on the beach, where it is served that is, “took off” along with VAT.

This is despite the fact that when VAT was reduced, the price had not dropped in most cases, but even now that the price is increasing, the increase is rounded up higher than the VAT charge.
