Freddy Beleris released from prison – Arriving in Athens at 12:30 PM, swearing-in at Strasbourg on July 16

Fredi Beleris was released from Albanian prisons shortly before 7:30 AM to travel to Athens and then to Strasbourg, where he will be sworn in as an MEP on July 16.

The New Democracy MEP is expected to arrive in Athens at 12:30 PM.

The Prison Directorate approved his request for a five-day leave after multiple meetings. Freddy Beleris must return by 4:00 PM on Saturday, July 20, to serve the remainder of his sentence.

According to himara.gr, the Prison Directorate requested full details from Beleris, including transportation guarantees, the submission of travel tickets for departure and return, and accommodation arrangements in a hotel. If he stays longer than the permit allows due to developments there, he must officially notify all relevant institutions, including local authorities in Brussels.

Finally, it was announced that he will travel alone, without escort from correctional officers.
