The country’s heat stress continues today, Sunday, with the mercury not dropping below 30 degrees in most areas for the 14th consecutive day.

Temperatures will reach or even exceed 40 degrees on the mainland, while a break is expected areas in the mountains of eastern Macedonia and Thrace, where local showers and thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon.

According to the update of the EMS emergency bulletin, very high temperatures with maximum values locally above 40 degrees Celsius will persist until Monday.

From Tuesday there will be a gradual decline in temperatures, both in terms of maximum and minimum values, which will be felt in the middle of next week in most areas.

Overall, on Sunday the weather will be clear in most of the country, while in the midday and afternoon hours there will be some clouds on the mainland and local rain and isolated thunderstorms in the mountains of eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
