More and more information is coming to light about the leader of the notorious organized crime ring “Bayğaras“, which is based in Adana, Turkey.

The group’s leader, 29-year-old Ramazan Baygara, who was arrested in Athens in May, was the subject of an Interpol red notice and had 14 outstanding arrest warrants for drugs, migrant trafficking, arms trafficking and manslaughter.

As it has become known in recent hours, Turkish authorities have moved to dismantle a large criminal network known as “Baygaralar”, which is believed to be responsible for 83 serious criminal acts, including murders, arms and drug trafficking, aggravated fraud and multiple cases of robberies and assaults.

The organization, according to Greek authorities as well, was behind illegal immigration cases and at the same time was pushing women into prostitution.

Since last September, there have been at least eight murders of Turks in Greece, six in Loutsa, one in Piraeus and one in Kypseli. All of them are linked to organized crime, with the NIS working closely with Turkish authorities and closely monitoring the case.

The coordinated Turkish operation, which covered 16 provinces including Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir, led to the arrest of 270 suspects during extensive operations, according to the Interior Ministry statement.

Authorities in the neighboring country seized illegal firearms, including 43 unlicensed pistols, 11 rifles, five AK-47 automatic weapons and four grenades. In addition, large amounts of Turkish pounds, foreign currency and digital devices were seized.
