Petroupoli: 39-year-old man arrested for beating woman over car dispute

The Hellenic Police (EL.AS.) have arrested a 39-year-old man who was wanted for violently assaulting a female driver in Petroupoli on Monday night

Newsroom June 11 05:20

The incident took place at the intersection of Konstantinoupoleos and Dodekanisou Streets, near St. Sarafis Square—a notoriously narrow road that often becomes a flashpoint for driver disputes. The 46-year-old victim was driving through the narrow street with her mother as a passenger when they encountered a vehicle coming from the opposite direction. They signaled for the other driver, an elderly man around 70 years old, to reverse so they could pass. Instead, he stopped his car in the middle of the road, refusing to move.

Moments later, a second man—believed to be the elderly driver’s son—appeared on the scene. According to the victim’s mother, he began verbally assaulting the woman, kicked her car causing damage, and when the woman exited her vehicle to confront him, he attacked her violently. He punched and kicked her repeatedly in the head, jaw, and chest, inflicting serious injuries.

The assailant fled the scene immediately after the attack but was later located and arrested by police.
