The temperature exceeded 40°C in some areas on Friday (June 27), with the highest recorded in Skala, Messinia (43.2°C), followed by Astéri in Laconia and Aigies Gytheiou (41.6°C).
In Athens and the surrounding areas, the temperature also surpassed 40°C. The highest recorded temperature was in Salamina (40.8°C), followed by Vlychada (40.6°C) and Harokopeio in Kallithea (40.5°C). The map shows the distribution of the maximum temperatures in Athens and nearby areas on Friday.
It is noted that the emergency weather warning issued by the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY) remains in effect.
Specifically:
Today, temperatures are expected to reach 39 to 41°C in mainland regions and 36 to 38°C in island regions. On Saturday (June 28), temperatures will drop by 2 to 3 degrees, and on Sunday (June 29), they will not exceed 32 to 34°C.
Severe thunderstorms are expected locally from this afternoon in Western and Central Macedonia, and from tonight in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. These severe weather events are expected to subside by early Saturday morning (June 28).
Winds will gradually strengthen across the country starting Saturday (June 28), and by Sunday (June 29), they are expected to reach up to 9 Beaufort in the Cyclades, Crete, the Dodecanese, and the eastern Aegean islands, and up to 8 Beaufort in Evia, Attica, and eastern Peloponnese.

In Epirus, Central Greece, Thessaly, and the Peloponnese: partly cloudy with temporary increases in cloudiness during midday and afternoon hours, with local showers or rain and sporadic thunderstorms, mainly in the Peloponnese.
In the rest of the country: generally fair weather with some temporary clouds.
Winds will blow from northern directions, at 4 to 5 Beaufort in the west and 5 to 7 Beaufort in the Aegean.
Temperatures will drop by 2 to 3 degrees. They will reach 36 to 38°C in mainland areas, 35 to 37°C in the Ionian Islands, eastern Aegean islands, Dodecanese, and Crete, and 29 to 31°C in the Cyclades.
