EKPA: 170,000 degrees available through gov.gr

Digital copies of degrees issued from 2000 onward now accessible to graduates – How the process works

Newsroom August 4 08:50

More than 170,000 university degrees from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) are now available online through gov.gr.

Graduates holding an undergraduate degree from 2000 onward can obtain a digital copy of their diploma through ptyxia.gov.gr. This includes all undergraduate degrees from the university’s 42 departments issued since 2000. Additionally, postgraduate degrees from 2022 onward are also available.

How to obtain the digital copy

To issue a digital copy of their degree, NKUA graduates can search for the “Higher education degrees” service on gov.gr or directly visit ptyxia.gov.gr.

After logging in using their TaxisNet credentials and entering their AMKA (social security number), graduates can download digital copies of their diplomas, each with a unique verification code and an advanced electronic seal issued by gov.gr, ensuring document authenticity. These copies can be sent electronically or printed and submitted in physical form.

The authenticity of a document can be easily verified at docs.gov.gr/validate by entering the unique verification code.

Additionally, these diplomas can be digitally authenticated with the Hague Apostille via e-apostille.gov.gr, enabling users to send their degrees abroad with just a few clicks—instead of making two in-person visits.

Digital degrees from all Greek universities

It’s worth noting that more than 740,000 degrees from 23 Greek institutions are now digitally available via ptyxia.gov.gr, along with official recognition decisions from DOATAP (the Hellenic NARIC). So far, about 128,000 copies have been issued.

A detailed list of available degrees per university can be found at: ptyxia.gov.gr/universities. The long-term goal is for all Greek universities to be included in the platform.

The service was designed and developed by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, the General Secretariat for Information Systems and Digital Governance, and GRNET (the National Infrastructures for Research and Technology), under the Ministry of Digital Governance. Citizen and degree data are accessed through the Interoperability Center of the General Secretariat for Information Systems and Digital Governance.
