Mild temperatures, African dust transport, and increased humidity levels make up the weather backdrop for the next few days, according to the National Weather Service. A drop in temperature and a return to autumn weather are expected from Thursday.
Today’s weather is generally clear in most parts of the country, with sparse clouds and limited visibility in the morning and evening hours. According to the National Weather Service, meteorological conditions favor the transport of African dust, which, combined with southerly winds and increased humidity, creates conditions unusual for mid-November.
Temperatures remain above normal for the season, reaching 22 to 24 °C in several areas of the mainland and islands. In Attica, the thermometer is between 10 and 21 °C, with mild southerly winds and partly cloudy conditions. A similar scene prevails in Thessaloniki, where the maximum temperature reaches 22 °C.
From Monday to Wednesday, the warm and humid pattern will continue, with south winds strengthening and dust making its presence felt, limiting visibility in places. The National Weather Service warns that air pollution may aggravate people with respiratory problems and recommends caution for those in vulnerable groups.
From Thursday, according to the latest forecast data, a gradual change in the weather is expected. Cloudy weather, local rain and a slight drop in temperature will initially affect the west and north, while by the end of the week the autumnal scene will prevail throughout the country.
The National Weather Service says temperatures will return to normal for the season, with winds shifting to northerly and humidity decreasing. Citizens are advised to be prepared for the return of cooler and wetter conditions after the brief “break” of heat and dust.
