Up to 3.2 million displaced in Iran since the start of the war, according to the UN

This number is likely to continue to rise as long as hostilities continue

Newsroom March 12 02:13

Up to 3.2 million people have been forced to flee their homes inside Iran since the start of war on 28 February, according to the UNHCR United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

For the agency, this assessment is based on preliminary assessments of households that have fled their homes in different regions of the country.

UNHCR notes that these are initial figures that are subject to revision as data collection on the actual extent of internal displacement continues.

In its statement, the agency warns that the humanitarian situation may deteriorate further.
