Specifically, drivers heading out of Athens are currently facing significant congestion on the Athens–Corinth motorway and Athinon Avenue, particularly at the outbound lanes, as well as on the Athens–Lamia route from Athinon Avenue to the Kalyftaki junction. Heavy traffic is also reported on the Kifissos service road near the KTEL bus station and along the coastal road toward the port of Piraeus.
The image of the outbound traffic from Athens at 15:30 shows major delays, while congestion is also affecting key arterial roads across the city. Traffic is particularly heavy on Kifissias Avenue, Mesogeion Avenue, and streets around central Athens.

On Kifissos Avenue toward Lamia, as shown in footage from Orange Press Agency, traffic is at a near standstill from Rentis to Nea Ionia, with vehicles occasionally coming to a complete stop due to extremely high traffic volume.
On the Athens–Corinth motorway, the main bottleneck is between Aigaleo and Skaramagas, followed by smaller delays at toll stations, Nea Peramos, and Megara.

Serious congestion is also recorded on the Attiki Odos, particularly in the direction of Elefsina. Delays are especially severe at exits toward Kifissos, Gerakas, and Marousi, with travel times from the Marathonos junction to the Metamorfosi junction exceeding 45 minutes.
The Easter exodus is also in full force at the Kifissos KTEL bus station, where buses are departing at near full capacity, with occupancy reaching almost 100%. Additional services have been scheduled to accommodate the increased demand.
Ports across Attica are also experiencing heavy passenger flow. According to preliminary data from the Coast Guard, on Maundy Thursday (April 9, 2026), 20 departures from the port of Piraeus are scheduled, carrying 20,225 passengers.
For the Saronic Gulf, 23 conventional ferry departures and 15 high-speed vessel departures are planned, with 2,322 passengers expected to travel.

From Rafina, 11 ferry departures to the Cyclades are scheduled, carrying approximately 7,440 passengers, along with four additional routes to Marmari.
From Lavrio, nine ferry departures are planned, with an estimated 2,284 passengers traveling.
Traffic conditions remain equally intense compared to the previous day, when thousands of passengers also departed from the ports of Attica, marking one of the busiest travel periods of the Easter season.
