Reports even from Greece are included among the dozens of files related to UFOs released by the United States Department of War as part of its commitment to informing the public about Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP), or UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects), as they were previously known.
According to the announcement, the initial disclosure concerns “new, never-before-released” files regarding unidentified flying objects, and the effort is attributed to cooperation between the White House, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Department of Energy, the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), NASA, the FBI, and additional intelligence community agencies.
The collection, it states, will be hosted at WAR.GOV/UFO, while it is emphasized that more files will follow “on a rolling basis.” It is noted that the collection includes files dating back as far as 80 years.
The Reports From Greece
Among the most notable materials are videos now being made public from the Aegean and sightings of unidentified objects by American pilots.
00:02: The sensor narrows its field of view to focus on a high-contrast area near the center of the screen.
00:03–00:19: The sensor tracks the high-contrast area as it moves against the backdrop of the sea.
00:20: As the background transitions from mostly water to land, the high-contrast area becomes difficult to distinguish.

As described by the U.S. Department of War, the incident took place in January 2024, when the pilot described the UAP as “diamond-shaped” and moving at a speed of approximately 800 km/h. The observer also reported that the UAP was detectable only through a short-wave infrared (SWIR) sensor.

The video description according to the report:
00:04: A contrast area becomes distinguishable from the background at the center of the right frame.
00:10: The display transitions to a full-screen view of the SWIR feed for improved focus on the contrast area.
00:55: The contrast area generally remains centered in the sensor’s field of view. The contrast area visually resembles an inverted teardrop with a vertically linear mass hanging beneath it.
00:56: The operator switches the sensor mode to the visible spectrum, causing the object to disappear into the background.
00:57–01:05: The operator switches the sensor mode back to SWIR (Black-Hot), but fails to reacquire the contrast area.

The video description according to the report:
00:04: A contrast area enters the sensor’s field of view from the lower-left quadrant of the screen.
00:07–00:19: The contrast area moves horizontally back and forth across the field of view as the sensor pans to track it.
01:00–02:01: The sensor marks the contrast area with a blue crosshair, synchronizing its movement with the relative position of the contrast area.
02:02–02:21: The sensor activates a contrast filter to better distinguish the contrast area from the background.
02:22: The contrast area becomes indistinguishable from the background, and the crosshair loses focus.
02:27–02:57: After losing focus, the sensor rapidly changes zoom levels and contrast thresholds.
Other Sightings in Greece
The following document is a Mission Report (MISREP) from the U.S. military documenting the circumstances surrounding its operations from Greece in January 2024.
A U.S. armed forces operator reported observing a UAP, estimating its speed at “approximately 434 knots (800 kilometers/hour).” The observer described the UAP as diamond-shaped, with a non-maneuvering appendage at the bottom. The observer noted that the UAP was visible only when viewed through an integrated short-wave infrared (SWIR) sensor. The observer reported that the event lasted approximately two minutes.

The Files Released by the U.S. Department of War
The briefing emphasizes that the disclosure follows a directive by U.S. President Donald Trump to begin the process of “identifying and declassifying” government files related to UAPs “in the interest of full transparency.”
Video from the United Arab Emirates:
One of the disclosed documents includes transcripts of communications from the operators of Apollo 17, who described unknown phenomena they observed during their mission.
“We now have some very bright particles or fragments passing by as we move,” one operator reported to mission control.
“Roger. Understood,” mission control replied.
“There’s a large cluster of big objects in my window down there — just bright. It looks like Independence Day out Ron’s window,” another operator added.
One archival image from the Apollo 17 Moon mission in 1972 shows three bright indications visible in the upper-right portion of the image above the lunar landscape.

The announcement also states that citizens “can now have direct access” to declassified UAP files “without requiring clearance,” and that the material has been reviewed for security reasons, although “many” of the documents “have not yet been analyzed” regarding the interpretation of the “anomalies.”

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth stated:
“The Department of War is fully aligned with President Trump in bringing unprecedented transparency regarding our government’s understanding of Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena. These files, hidden behind classifications, long fueled justified speculation — and it is time for the American people to see them with their own eyes. This release of declassified documents demonstrates the Trump administration’s genuine commitment to unprecedented transparency.”
The announcement also includes two photographs from the Federal Bureau of Investigation showing UAPs alongside American aircraft, taken on New Year’s Day in 1999.
Obama and Trump Clash Over UFOs
In early February, former U.S. President Barack Obama stated in an interview with a podcaster that extraterrestrials are real, prompting Fox News journalist Peter Doocy to ask Trump directly about their existence.
“He disclosed classified information. He shouldn’t have done that,” Trump said about Obama. “I don’t know whether they are real or not. I can tell you he disclosed classified information. He should not have done that — he made a big mistake.”
A few days later, Trump announced in a post on Truth Social that he would declassify files related to the issue.
“Based on the tremendous interest shown, I will direct the Secretary of War and other relevant Agencies and Departments to begin the process of identifying and releasing government records regarding aliens and life beyond Earth, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), unidentified flying objects (UFO), and any other information related to these extremely interesting and important issues. God bless America!” he wrote.
Various agency heads commented on the disclosure, describing it as an unprecedented step toward transparency.
“The Department of War is in full agreement with President Trump to bring unprecedented transparency regarding our government’s understanding of Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena,” Secretary of War Pete Hegseth stated.
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard added that “transparency regarding the government’s knowledge of unidentified anomalous phenomena has long been requested by the American people.”
“Under President Trump’s leadership, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence is actively coordinating declassification efforts with the Department of War to ensure a careful, comprehensive, and unprecedented review of our records in order to provide the American people with maximum transparency,” she added.
FBI Director Kash Patel stated:
“The FBI is proud to stand alongside President Trump and our interagency partners in this historic release of UAP files. For the first time in history, the American people have unrestricted access to declassified government records concerning Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena — a level of transparency that no previous administration has offered.”
NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman also stated:
“I commend President Trump’s effort to bring greater transparency to the American people regarding unidentified aerial phenomena.”
