The week will end with heat and strengthened meltemi winds, according to meteorologist Giorgos Tsatrafyllias of protothema.gr. Although the strong northerly winds will act as a limiting factor for the heatwave affecting Western Europe in the coming days, their presence in our country requires particular caution, as they significantly increase the risk of fires and their rapid spread.

At the same time, atmospheric instability will be significantly reduced.

More specifically, today, Friday June 19, 2026, mostly clear weather is expected in most areas. Only during midday and afternoon hours will brief showers occur in inland regions, mainly in mountainous areas.
The maximum temperature will reach 35°C in western mainland areas, while in the Ionian Sea and Crete it will range between 31 and 32°C.

Winds will be weak in the Ionian Sea, while in the Aegean northerly winds will strengthen and locally reach up to 8 Beaufort.

In Attica, sunshine is expected. Winds will blow from the north at up to 7 Beaufort, while temperatures will range from 20 to 31°C.
