A. Tsipras will create a govt on the next day of elections

The former PM stated a willingness to cooperate with other parties but this would only be applicable if there are shared beliefs

Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) leader Alexis Tsipras said that Greece will have a government the next day of the elections during an interview with public broadcaster ERT TV on Sunday.

He said: “What is at stake is whether we will have a progressive government with SYRIZA paving the way or a government that will represent the old political system.”

The former PM underlined that if he does not have the parliamentary majority, he will take the mandate and form a government within three days. “We all know that the majority party will form a government. Nobody will assume the cost of dragging the country to elections again. We will respect the people’s verdict,” he said.

He said that SYRIZA is in favor of forming alliances, something it proved with Independent Greeks (ANEL). What is important, though, he said, is that this cooperation is one where both parties have the same goals. “We have proven that our aim is to unite and not divide the people,” he said.
He said that his reluctance in forming an alliance with the conservative ND party is that the party’s leader is not interested in cooperating but in continuing the old political system.

He said he was proud of the tough negotiation process during his 7 months in government. He said that Greeks know they have a government fighting for them.
