Drag Queen Christmas stories for 3 to 2 year-old kids in Thessaloniki – Vice President of Patrida party protests in post (video)

Many people believe such events sexualise children at a very young age

Afrodite Latinopoulou, the vice president of the conservative party Patrida (Nation) blasted a scheduled event organised by the LGBT group Pride of Thessaloniki, during which drag queens will read fairy tales to children aged 3-12. The vice-president of the “PATRIDA” party, in a video she uploaded on Instagram, protested “hands off our children”.

The event that enraged Latinopoulou is organised by Thessaloniki Pride and Rainbow Families, in which drag queens will read Christmas stories to kindergarten and elementary school children aged 3 to 12 years old.

“They’re not experts, they’re not role models, they can’t address babies. It’s tragic what’s happening and we all have to react,” added Aphrodite Latinopoulou and emphasises: “Keep our hands off our children.”

According to the announcement by Thessaloniki Pride on Facebook, on Friday, December 30, from 5 to 7:30 pm, the Christmas story “The Drag Queen Who Saved Christmas” will be read by drag queens from the Therapaisin group, at the nursery school “Microcosmos”, in Kalamaria.

According to the organisers of the event, “the drag queens will talk to us through the fairy tale, on the occasion of the festive season about gender stereotypes and how colours and games have no gender because every child can play with any game they want, without discrimination”.

The action, as mentioned in the announcement, is for children from 3 to 12 years old and is supported by the Department of Culture, Creative Media and Industries of the University of Thessaly.

The trend of normalising drag queen storytime for kids has reached Greece from the US with many saying it is inappropriate to expose children to such sensitive issues claiming it sexualises children at a very young age.
