Earlier in the morning there were clashes – After an electoral thriller, Freddy Beleris who remains in prison in Tirana was declared the winner

Celebrations outside a polling station in Himara, as the member of the indigenous ethnic Greek minority of Northern Epirus in southern Albania, Freddy Beleris prevailed over the “chosen” of the Albanian Prime Minister Giorgi Goro.

After an electoral thriller, Freddy Beleris, who remains in prison in Tirana, where he was taken after a sham arrest and decision of the Avlona prosecutor, is the big winner of the municipal elections in Himara.

The “Omonoia” candidate, despite the fact that he was initially well behind the “chosen” of the Rama government, came back and managed to overtake Goro.

Earlier in the morning, there had been some clashes and, in fact, due to the tension, the counting of votes was stopped for a few minutes.

The counting process started in the early morning hours of Monday and after the ballots from the 36 E.T. of the enlarged municipality, were moved to a single space in the center of Himara.

After what preceded, with the pre-trial detention of Beleris for alleged “buying of votes”, fears were expressed of irregularities during the counting process, with the aim of altering the result in favor of the “chosen” of Rama, and until now mayor, Giorgi Goro.

Albanian media reported several times on Sunday on Himara, calling the election process “unusual” since one of the main opponents is in custody.
