The funeral of the former President of the Republic, Karolos Papoulias, who died at the age of 92, was held with the honors of a head of state.

The procession took place at the Church of Agios Spyridon, in Pagrati, in the presence of the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the President of SYRIZA Alexis Tsipras, the President of the Movement for Change Nikos Androulakos.

Many people also paid tribute to a politician of rare morals and intellectual culture, who has remained modest without, however, being deprived of self-denial, especially in critical moments for Greece.

Due to the Covid-19 emergency measures, the burial of Karolos Papoulias will take place in a close family circle, in his birthplace, on the island of Ioannina, tomorrow Thursday.
