An Israeli soccer star playing in Greece was arrested on Tuesday in Athens for allegedly committing sexually indecent acts on a minor.

The 33-year-old Volos Football Club player Boris Klaiman — a former Israeli national team goalkeeper — was among six people detained at an Athens nightclub and was found in possession of 1.5 grams of heroin, according to local news reports.

Greek police carried out the arrests after a Belgian teen tourist filed a complaint against Klaiman. Four other Belgian tourists got into a violent brawl with the Israeli suspect, apparently sparked by the indecent act. Police then arrested the five along with a Greek suspect.

Volos president Achillea Beos announced later Tuesday that the team was cutting ties with Klaiman, saying it had zero tolerance for the allegations at hand. Beu said the Israeli player had asked the team to provide him with an attorney, but that he refused to do so.

Klaiman is faced with criminal prosecution and has been trying for the last few hours with the help of his lawyer, Panagiotis Papadopoulos, to fend off the accusations of rape and build his defence line, while the results of the forensic examination are awaited in the submitted by the minor student from Belgium.

The young girl claimed that the 32-year-old goalkeeper of Volos “initially made lewd gestures and then sexually assaulted her in the bar” with him claiming that none of this is true.
