Middle East: Hamas says there is no progress in talks for a new ceasefire

A new round of talks is underway in Cairo for a ceasefire in Gaza, with the participation of Israel, Qatar, and the United States

A Hamas official told Reuters today that there has been no progress in the new round of talks for a ceasefire in Gaza, taking place in Cairo with the participation of delegations from Israel, Qatar, and the United States.

“There has been no change in the position regarding the occupation and therefore, there is nothing new in the talks in Cairo,” the Hamas official, who requested not to be named, told Reuters. “There is still no progress.”

Earlier today, an Egyptian source on the Al Kahera television network, which is believed to have ties to intelligence services, stated that progress had been made in the negotiations in Cairo for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, following an agreement reached among the parties involved on the discussed issues.
