Greek Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura inaugurated the 2nd Mediterranean yacht Show at historic coastal Nafplion, the first capital of modern Greece.
During the inauguration ceremony, Kountoura highlighted the increase in tourism in recent years and pointed to the record numbers of arrivals. She noted that bookings in the first three months of 2015 indicated that these levels will be improved upon in the current year.
Among Greece’s strategic goals in tourism are the extension of the tourism season, opening up new markets, codifying tourism-related legislation and attracting new investments.
She pointed to the Mediterranean Yacht Show as an opportunity for travel agents to meet with luxury yacht crews and arrange for their lease to wealthy visitors to Greece. This year’s show will run until May 6.
