Ministry of Internal Affairs: 3.5 million euros for the new Glyfada High School – See how it will be constructed

Today the school is housed in a leased building from the 1990s, but it neither has the space nor meets the conditions required

The green light for the construction of a new state-of-the-art building complex, budgeted at 3.5 million euros, which will house the 7th Gymnasium of Glyfada, with a capacity of 265 students, was given by Deputy Interior Minister Thodoris Livanios, responding positively to a request from Mayor George Papanikolaou.

Today, the high school is housed in a building leased since the 1990s, but which neither has the space nor meets the requirements of the modern legislative framework for schools, from access for students with disabilities to fire safety.

The new building complex will fully meet the operational requirements of a new modern high school, with the specifications set out in the building programmes of the Ministry of Education, based on aesthetic criteria of the specific landscape, criteria of use, safety, cost, environmental conditions and sustainability.

The building complex will be constructed on land in the B’ Zone of Ymittos that the municipality of Glyfada has secured from Building Infrastructures, i.e. the former School Buildings Organisation.

At the same time, the municipality has advanced to a significant extent the necessary technical studies and thus it is estimated that in two years at the latest, the new complex will be ready to welcome the students of the 7th Gymnasium of Glyfada from the school year 2025-26.
