Paris meetings on employment issues with the Troika

The Greek delegation hopes to come to an agreement with its international creditors on issues concerning mass dismissals, changes to union law and social security issues

A delegation of the Ministry of Employment is traveling to Paris in an effort to discuss employment and social security measures in Greece with the country’s international creditors. A number of issues are on the negotiating table with the Troika:

Mass dismissals: The troika hasn’t backed down on its positions regarding this measure. The Ministry of Employment hopes that the International Labour Organization’s study is of benefit to Greece.

Changes to Union Law: Labour, Social Security and Welfare Minister Giannis Vroutsis has commissioned a legal study into practices followed by ten other EU countries (the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Sweden) on issues of union licenses, decision-making and funding.

Social Security: The delegation will try to get an extension to the implementation of measures for social security as the report by the Center of Programming and Financial Research (KEPE)has yet to be announced. Decisions to be made in the fall concern people who will reach retirement age by 2020 or later.
