Ultranationalist GD MP given extension to testify

Golden Dawn MP Polyvios Zissimopoulos given extension to testify on June 27

Right-wing Golden Dawn MP Polyvios Zissimopoulos – summoned today by the examining magistrates to testify on charges of participating and leading a criminal organization – asked and received and extension to testify on June 27. He was given an extension by the examining magistrates following a motion for the recusal of the examining magistrates and the prosecutor handling the Golden Dawn case.

The motion filed by jailed Golden Dawn secretary general Nikos Mihaloliakos against magistrates Ioanna Klapa and Maria Dimitropoulou as well as against prosecutor Isidoros Doyiakos has essentially “frozen” the investigation until the ruling of the judicial council.

According to sources, Mihaloliakos’ motion relates to the indictment by the lawyer of independent deputy Stathis Boukouras, Alexis Kougias, who claimed his client was under pressure from the magistrates to testify against his co-defendants so as to be treated in a more favourable way.
