About 10,000 refugees landed on Greek islands in last 24 hours

The available infrastructure of Registration Centre is not sufficient to register so many refugees

Arrivals of refugees and migrants to three Greek islands broke a new record in the last 24 hours reaching 9,763, as police announced on Monday.

From Sunday morning until Monday morning, more than 5,000 people arrived in Lesvos, about 2,500 landed on Chios and another 1,500 reached Samos, according to official data of Lesvos.

The new arrivals in Lesvos were added to the 6,500 refugees and migrants already on the island who are waiting to be registered by local authorities and continue their journey to the mainland.

Due to the large number of arrivals, authorities said the situation at the Registration Centre of Moria is very difficult since the available infrastructure is not sufficient to register so many refugees.
