Crete: The first photo of Rethymnian crocodile

The reptile is about two meters long and was spotted at the Potami Dam Lake, in Amari

The first photo of Rethymnian crocodile, which was spotted in the waters of Potami Dam Lake, was published on rethemnosnews.gr.

The existence of the crocodile, which is about two meters long, became known when two firemen on patrol had an unexpected… “meeting” with the huge reptile.

At first the two men saw the crocodile wandering and then diving into the waters of the lake.

“At first we thought it was a joke” said the Director of the Department of Transportation and Hydraulic Engineering Projects Management of Crete Development Organization, Vangelis Mamangakis, “but once we realized that the witnesses are reliable we started investigating the incident”.
