Most of us have heard of the legend of ‘Big Foot’ roaming the wilderness in north America. Some photos or videos, of dubious authenticity, have even been released purporting to show the mythical creature. But we need’t go to myths to find the find the ‘real’ Bigfoot! Meet Jeison Orlando Rodriguez Hernandez who holds the Guinness World Record for the largest feet in the world. Jeison, 20, is from Venezuela and his feet measure 41 cm, which corresponds to nearly a 60 shoe size (EU)! From his teen years Jeison had to wear shoes made of cloth, which only lasted for a couple of weeks forcing him to go barefoot for most of the time. In school, Rodríguez Hernandez had to face verbal and physical bullying because of his feet and used to come home traumatised by the discrimination. He underwent medical scans that determined he suffered from an overactive pituitary that produced the excess growth. Rodríguez Hernandez’s shoes were made by a German shoemaker who specialises in making shoes for irregular sizes and who also presented his measurements to the competition.
