“Vikentios,” sabotage in the Balkans, and the role of the painter-spy from Alexandroupol
The recruiter of the 59-year-old expatriate from Georgia, who was arrested in Alexandroupoli and, after his interrogation today, was remanded in custody, is believed to have participated in sabotage operations in the Balkans.

The recruiter, who has already been arrested in Lithuania, is known to authorities as “Vikentios.” He served in the military of the former Soviet Union alongside the 59-year-old painter from Alexandroupoli and has lived in both Thessaloniki and Alexandroupoli.

According to sources from the Greek Intelligence Service (EYP), over the past three years, “Vikentios” has been in contact with Russian secret services. What is most concerning, however, is that, based on information held by authorities, this man participated in sabotage operations in the Balkans, and it is feared that similar actions could occur in Greece.
