The mother of the infant seems to have told the truth. Her baby was found on Wednesday afternoon in a bag next to a garbage bin in Alimos.

The child, as seen on cameras, was indeed abducted by an unknown man who, after taking him from his mother, abandoned him next to a trash can.

Police are looking for a tall dark-skinned man. From the first analysis on the cameras, the mother, a Roma woman, can be seen with the infant begging outside a supermarket. At some point she is approached by the perpetrator who says let’s go inside and I’ll shop for you. They go inside and just as they are in the aisle where the diapers are, the perpetrator takes the little girl and disappears.

The child’s grandmother, who was with them at the time, immediately starts screaming and then reports the abduction to the police.

Most likely the man left the scene in a taxi and immediately went to Alimos.

According to initial information, the child does not appear to have been abused, however, a forensic pathologist will see the child today.

The infant’s grandmother was arrested for child neglect and the mother has been located.

The family was living on the bridge under Petrou Rallis.
