Latinoopoulou for Roma: I call them gypsies, you can call them whatever you want

The president of the Voice of Reason party insisted that she would call them by that term

Newsroom May 17 08:00

Afrodite Latinoopoulou was a guest on Action24 and, among other things, addressed issues of criminality involving Roma, describing them with the racist term “gypsies”, causing a backlash.

Specifically, the chairwoman of the Voice of Reason party said, among other things, “We are fighting to get away from the criminality of gypsies, whom Mrs Konstantopoulou has defended many times in court. So, therefore, what we are fighting for is what she stands for. So you understand how dangerous this is.”

The reporter interrupted her by saying: “You mean gypsies, Roma” with her replying “”I call them gypsies, you can of course call them whatever you want”.

“The characterization has a charge, you know? And racial,y if you look at it, they are Roma,” the reporter told her.

.
“Afroditi Latinoopoulou replied, insisting, “and they define themselves that way anyway.
