Skiathos: Turbines of an airplane launched the suitcases of tourists into the sea, see video

For yet another year, many tourists visit the beach next to the airport to watch the planes landing and taking off

Newsroom September 1 01:43

Scenes repeated every summer in Skiathos have been recorded again, as tourists continue to flock to the beach next to the airport to experience up close and personal the experience of aircraft taking off and landing.

The phenomenon has become a habit for many visitors, but there is no shortage of unexpected events. This time, a group of tourists saw their luggage blown overboard by the force of the turbines of a Ryanair plane preparing to take off.

Video circulating online shows people trying to hold on to something to keep from falling, as the weak wind from the aircraft carried everything in its wake. In a typical frame, a tourist is seen running into the water to retrieve his valve that had ended up in the sea.

In Skiathos, planes pass a few metres above beaches such as “Xysta” in Agios Stefanos, just before landing at Alexandros Papadiamantis airport. The images are spectacular; they are “bait” for videos and photos, but they still hide serious dangers for unsuspecting tourists.

This unprecedented experience attracts crowds every year, but at the same time raises questions about the safety of those who choose to be so close to the aircraft engines.
