On Monday, the 27 Greeks detained since Thursday by Israeli authorities after the interception of boats heading to Gaza were returned.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that today they were visited by Greece’s ambassador to Israel at the detention center in the Negev desert, where they have been taken.
All are in good health and are being given all necessary support, the statement said.
The ministry said that together with the Greek embassy in Tel Aviv, they are in constant communication with the Israeli foreign ministry so that the repatriation procedures can be handled.
To this end, a special flight will be operated on Monday from Eilat airport to take them to Athens.

A delegation of the Embassy of Greece in Tel Aviv, headed by the Ambassador of Greece to Israel, visited today, Sunday, October 5, the detention center where the 27 Greek citizens participating in the “Global Sumud Flotilla” are being held. All are in good health and are being provided with all necessary support.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Greece in Tel Aviv are in constant communication with all levels of the administration of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs so that the repatriation procedures can be carried out immediately.
At the instruction of Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis, tomorrow, Monday, October 6, 2025, a special flight will be operated to the nearby Eilat-Ramon International Airport to pick up the Greek citizens and return them safely to Athens on the same day.
