Former Prime Minister of Greece Kostas Karamanlis, has visited Northern Epirus wanting to pay tribute to the Greek soldiers of the 1940s epic.
Mr Karamanlis visited the memorials of the fallen at Vouliarates and Klisoura, where one of the most crucial battles of the Greek-Italian war was fought, on the hill of Trebesina, with Greek soldiers reinforcing the front.

Mr. Karamanlis’ visit was also of a personal nature, as his father, Alexos Karamanlis, had fought on the same front as a reserve officer.
