The news of the death of 38-year-old Zacharias Famelos has caused deep sorrow among his loved ones as well as members of the Athens music community. The 38-year-old, originally from Pyrgos in Ilia, died in a traffic accident early Thursday morning at the junction of Vouliagmeni Avenue and Andrea Papandreou Street in Glyfada, when the motorcycle he was riding collided with another vehicle.
Zach— as his friends called him— was a beloved DJ and music producer. Everyone describes him as an artist with deep knowledge across many genres of music.
One of his colleagues, Kostas Saltis, wrote on his Facebook page that he happened to be at the scene of the crash and tried to help the unfortunate Zacharias, but sadly could not save him.
“Last night, after finishing my shift at the venue where I play (as a DJ) in Glyfada, I witnessed a traffic accident. Apart from being a DJ, because of my training (as a certified rescuer), I offered first aid. Unfortunately, Zacharias had multiple injuries. When the ambulance arrived, he was taken straight to the hospital, but sadly he didn’t make it. My condolences to his family and friends,” he wrote.
According to reports, the accident occurred when a car, under circumstances still unclear, collided with the motorcycle ridden by 38-year-old Zacharias. From the impact, the motorcyclist was fatally injured and was transported by ambulance to the Asklipieio Hospital in Voula, where he passed away.
