Weather: Temperatures to reach 40 degrees today, instability tomorrow – Where rain is expected

Yesterday's maximum temperature was 39.4 °C - Meltemi winds to return after the weekend - EMY forecast until Wednesday

Newsroom August 3 10:20

Without the expected heatwave, the first 10 days of August will pass, but today temperatures are expected to exceed 40 degrees in some areas before dropping tomorrow, bringing instability.

According to EMY Director Theodoros Kolydas, today, tomorrow, and Monday will see winds weakening to 4-5 Beaufort. On Tuesday, winds will pick up to 5-6 Beaufort, and on Wednesday-Thursday, Meltemi winds will reach 6-7 Beaufort.

Instability will be mainly on Sunday in the mainland, potentially affecting the northern and western parts of Attica.

Saturday will be the hottest day, with temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius, while from Sunday onward, temperatures will drop. Generally, temperatures will be around 3 degrees above normal values until the middle of next week (nothing extreme).

Klearchos Marousakis notes that the first ten days of August will pass without a heatwave and that after today’s temperature rise, Sunday will bring instability and a drop in temperature.

“The weather, as it appears, does not want to satisfy those who predicted a blazing August with a new prolonged heatwave breaking records, as until at least the 10th of the month, there is no such outlook. Instead, after a brief rise in mercury on Friday-Saturday, Sunday will bring significant instability and a temperature drop, followed by the return of Meltemi winds and normal heat in the east, with more intense heat in the west,” stated the OPEN meteorologist.
