Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides will visit Cairo on February 17 to sign two agreements related to the development of natural gas fields within Cyprus’ EEZ.
As President Christodoulides stated on Friday afternoon (January 24) in a post on the platform X, shortly after meeting with Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum, Karim Badawi, he will travel to Cairo on February 17 following an invitation from Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. The visit will include “the signing ceremony for two significant agreements regarding the development of the Cronos and Aphrodite gas fields in Cyprus’ EEZ.”

“This is another step in enhancing growth in our region,” emphasized President Christodoulides.
It has been reported that the two agreements will likely involve the transportation of natural gas from Cyprus’ EEZ fields to Egypt’s liquefaction terminals, from where it will be distributed to Europe.
